Who we are

Made by Humans for Humans (MBH4H) is a micro-media brand dedicated to celebrating human creativity in the era of artificial intelligence. We focus on art & design, entertainment, music, video games, and technology, and write words (and have conversations) about what it means to be a creative, and to be human.

MBH4H is James Bareham and Ross Miller.

Ethics Statement on our use of AI

We don’t use Generative AI (GenAI) to create any original artwork or imagery published on MBH4H. That isn’t to say we aren’t playing around with Midjourney, DALL-E, Llama, or Stable Diffusion, among others—we are because we think it’s an important step in understanding these tools. We just haven’t published anything that uses them.

If, in the future, we choose to use any form of GenAI in the process of creating original artwork, or any GenAI is used by any artists or creators whose work we feature or employ, we will clearly label that work accordingly in the associated caption.

We distinguish between AI tools built into programs like Adobe Photoshop (or individual plugins) and larger GenAI platforms. In these cases, AI simply speeds up tasks we’d otherwise do manually—for example, the Remove Background Photoshop plugin, which uses AI to make an existing manual process faster and more efficient.

We think it’s confusing and redundant to declare when these specific tools are used. However, we are disclosing that we have used these AI tools and will continue to do so in the future, as well as others like them.

Similarly, we disclose that we frequently use Grammarly and ChatGPT for copy editing and Chat GPT and Gemini for research—we trust but always verify using alternative resources. However, we have yet to use original copy written by Gemini or ChatGPT in any of our written essays, articles, or posts. We have strong reservations about using generative text in any published work, but should that change in the future, we will disclose its use at that time—each and every time.

At the end of the day, the words on MBH4H are our own—we vouch for every noun, every verb, and (most) adjectives.
